There's something about a summer cookout that brings people together.
Maybe it's the smell of food on the grill, the laughter around the table, or the feeling of gathering with friends and family on a warm afternoon. Those moments remind us that sharing a meal is about more than food; it's about community, connection, and making people feel welcome.
That's the inspiration behind our Summer Cookout Fridays, a special seasonal tradition in The Dining Room at St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge.
Throughout the summer, our team and volunteers transform The Dining Room into a family-style cookout experience for the neighbors we serve. From festive decorations and themed table settings to special menus inspired by classic summer gatherings, each Friday offers a chance to create something a little extra special for our guests.

While the meals are always important, Summer Cookout Fridays are really about creating an atmosphere of hospitality. We want our neighbors to walk into a space that feels joyful, welcoming, and filled with care.
The generosity of our volunteers helps turn an ordinary Friday into an experience that many of our guests look forward to all summer long.

At St. Vincent de Paul, we know that hospitality can be a powerful form of ministry. A thoughtfully prepared meal, a decorated table, a friendly conversation, and a warm welcome can all remind someone that they matter.
This summer, we're grateful for everyone who helps make Summer Cookout Fridays possible.
