ST. VINCENT DE PAUL OF BATON ROUGE'S
Photography, Videography, and Ethical Storytelling Guidelines
At St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge, we are committed to using every dollar wisely to serve those in need. This principle also shapes how we communicate our mission.
We ensure fair and equitable access for all Baton Rouge news outlets when sharing information about our programs, services, and fundraising. By building strong relationships with local media, we reach more people, raise awareness, inspire volunteerism, and encourage charitable giving without relying solely on paid advertising.
This approach demonstrates our commitment to integrity, transparency, and responsible stewardship. By earning media coverage, we reduce marketing expenses and direct more resources to feeding the hungry, clothing those in need, providing shelter, and delivering essential services in our community.
Our mission is to serve our neighbors, not to favor any media outlet. By ensuring equitable access and treating all media representatives with fairness and respect, we build public trust and maximize the impact of every donated dollar.
We welcome media coverage that highlights the importance of serving our neighbors in need. To ensure that everyone feels respected and protected, we ask that you follow these guidelines:
Preserve Dignity and Privacy
Please avoid capturing full facial images of individuals receiving services. This protects their dignity and personal privacy during vulnerable moments.
Focus on the Mission
We encourage you to take photos and footage that showcase the optimistic spirit of the event, such as volunteers serving, donations being collected, and the overall atmosphere of compassion and community.
Do Not Capture Identifiable Participants
Do not take close-up or identifiable photos or videos of individuals receiving services. You may safely capture pictures from behind, silhouettes, or of hands and activities to highlight participation and the spirit of the event without revealing identities.
Use Discretion and Sensitivity
Many of our neighbors are experiencing challenging circumstances. We ask that all filming and photography be approached with care, gentleness, and respect.
