St. Vincent de Paul Baton Rouge is excited to announce a significant milestone: its Community Pharmacy has provided over $1 million worth of prescription medications at no cost to those in need this year. This achievement underscores the organization’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that vulnerable individuals have access to essential medicines, regardless of their financial circumstances.
From October 2024 to September 2025, the pharmacy has served 415 patients and filled 3,980 prescriptions, marking a significant increase from the previous fiscal year, with nearly $1,076,000 in prescription medications already dispensed.
"This one-million-dollar milestone reflects countless moments of compassion, faith, and friendship to our neighbors in need,” said Kellie Elisar, Director of Health Services at St. Vincent de Paul Community Pharmacy. “It inspires us to continue answering God’s call, growing our mission so that no one in our community goes without the care they deserve."
This impact is made possible through the generosity of donors and the dedication of a committed team of volunteers, as well as the support of in-kind partners. Their contributions allow each $1 donated to be transformed into $3.50 in life-changing medication for those who would otherwise go without.
Looking ahead, St. Vincent de Paul is exploring new ways to expand access, including potential satellite locations and curbside pickup options in future fiscal years.
