This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to help us continue our mission at the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room, the leading provider of hot meals in our community. Located at 220 St. Vincent de Paul Place, we serve nutritious meals every day of the year, offering a warm meal to those in need providing a vital source of nourishment and support.

Did you know that approximately 80% of the food we serve is donated? Generous contributions come from individuals, local restaurants, bakeries, supermarkets, and local farmers. Our local Food Bank provides the nutritious snacks that are included in our “Bags of Hope”. We also receive essential government commodities. While some meals feature dishes from Baton Rouge's finest eateries, our dedicated kitchen staff and volunteers prepare hearty meals. We serve meals such as Turkey Stew over rice with green beans and Red Beans and rice with sausage and a fresh salad. All meals include bread and dessert! Even with the generous food donations from local businesses and individuals, the remaining needs in order to fulfill the demand in our Dining Room are challenging.

To maintain the highest standards of safety and hygiene, we adhere to strict health regulations. All food items are carefully inspected for freshness, and our facilities are kept spotless. Every meal served is nutritious, and for many in our community, it’s the only well-balanced meal they’ll have each day. Our "Bags of Hope" ensure that those in need don’t go to bed hungry.

Volunteers play a crucial role in our mission. You'll see people from all walks of life—retirees, students, professionals—serving meals with a smile and a kind word. We welcome anyone in need of a hot meal to join us between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., no questions asked. We believe that with compassion and community support, we can make a difference in the lives of those who are struggling.

This Giving Tuesday, please consider making a donation or volunteering your time. Your support helps us purchase necessary food items and cover operating costs. Together, we can ensure that everyone in our community has access to a warm meal and the care they deserve. Thank you for your support!

We are thankful to share our participation on #GivingTuesday with iGiveCatholic!

iGiveCatholic is a fantastic effort St. Vincent de Paul has participated in for many years. iGiveCatholic is a national Catholic Giving Day that kicks off the charitable season and brings the community together to give thanks and give back. This day of giving inspires faithful stewards to give to Catholic organizations on Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving. St. Vincent de Paul’s work is built on Christ’s message of love for all of God’s children, and iGiveCatholic.org is built on that foundation. It’s a great way to help with our work.

Whether you give to us via iGiveCatholic or through our website directly, you are making the critical charitable work of St. Vincent de Paul a reality. Your support will feed the hungry, fill a prescription, or provide a place to call home for families in need.
