St. Vincent de Paul Baton Rouge successfully served local families in need during its Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Distribution, providing critical food assistance ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, Saturday, Nov. 15.
During the event, 67 households, representing 224 individuals, received food support. Volunteers and staff distributed both small and large food boxes, totaling 1,185 pounds of nutritious food, delivered directly to families.

Distribution totals included 35 small boxes, averaging 11 lbs., and 40 large boxes, averaging 20 lbs. each.
“We know our neighbors in need are needing food today, and that’s what we’re here to do, just help them and make sure they get through, especially with Thanksgiving coming and the cooler temperatures,” said President and CEO Sunnie Johnson-Lain. “We just know it’s essential to have plenty of food on the table.”

St. Vincent de Paul’s Food Distribution Drive is part of the organization’s ongoing mission to provide food security, emergency assistance, shelter, and hope to individuals and families throughout the Baton Rouge region. Events like today’s distribution help bridge the gap for those facing financial challenges, food insecurity, and uncertainty around assistance programs.
St. Vincent de Paul encourages community members to stay engaged, whether through donating food, volunteering their time, or offering financial support, to continue uplifting neighbors in need throughout the holiday season and throughout the year. St. Vincent de Paul continues to provide no-cost, hot meals daily during lunch hours.
